Lucas Oil Offroad Regional Series California – Lake Elsinore 03-07/08-2015

This past weekend was filled with awesome-ness! Well and some struggles too, but in the end we all worked hard and achieved some great results.

Saturday, we had a front differential break so we had to just push through qualifying and racing as much as possible. We qualified toward the middle/back of the field and worked our way up to the top 10 by about mid race, hoping to get a few more positions toward the end of the race, but the car wasn’t agreeing so we ended up mid pack, but pushed through and did as good as possible with the card we were dealt.

Sunday, was a new start for us thanks to Jason Merrell. Jason let us use the front differential out of his 4 seat pit RZR 1000, my Dad and Brian Lopez swapped the diffs in about an hour so that we could get to qualifying. We ended up qualifying 5th and the car was working great. The start was inverted for the top 6 so we ended up starting from outside row 1. I had some poor line choice during the first few laps and faded back to 6th, but was able to correct the mistakes within a few laps and start catching back up to the lead pack. Man it was nice to finally be up towards the front and feeling like I belong. I drove very well for in the later portions of the race and found some great speed, almost passed up to a podium position, but wanted to make sure I drove clean and gain the respect of the other drivers. We crossed the finish line in 5th, but 3rd-5th all almost crossed the line at the same time.

I really wanted to get on the podium, but all-in-all we can take away a ton of positives from the weekend. Now we can shoot for some podiums at the next rounds! Super Excited!!!

Thanks to my Dad, Brian Lopez, Jason Merrell, Jeremy Merrell, Justin Mathew Davis, and Ricky Silber for all their help in the pits, our team is the best out there!

Couldn’t do it without all the awesome people that help make my dreams come true:

Race Report: Lucas Regoinals CA – Round 1 – Glen Helen
This weekend was a great start to the 2015 season! Having the races live streamed on LiveTrackFeed.com, hanging out with all of our friends, and of course racing!!!

We had a rough time in qualifying and ended up having to start 22nd on the grid of 32 drivers. The largest turnout of all the classes, so it was a battle royal! Our goal was to drive fast but also avoid all the carnage up to the mid race caution flag, then drop the hammer and move as far forward as possible…it worked out a bit different as there were so many people crashing we had numerous caution flags and only 7 laps at race pace.

We were able to work from the 22nd starting position up to 7th (about 6 inches from 6th place at the line. I was happy with the result, but would always like to be on the podium. Our Supercuts RideNow Powersports Rockstar Energy Drink US UTV Wolfpack Polaris RZR with GMZ Race Products Inc. Tires and Trinity Racing Exhaust worked great!!! I think with a better starting position and cleaning up a few things in my driving that we will be able to run towards the front of the pack this season. A huge thanks to my Dad for all his hard work, Ryan Shumaker and Jessica Rae Martinez for driving all the way to California on Valentines Day to come watch the races!
